Online BBA specialisations & elective tracks (2026)
An online BBA covers core business subjects first, then lets you take a specialisation — a set of electives that gives the degree a sector focus. The universities on SkillBridge differ a lot here: NMIMS offers 3 tracks, Manipal 7, DPU 9, and Amity names 2 alongside a general BBA. This guide maps who offers what, and what the common areas actually cover.
Which university offers which areas
A BBA specialisation is not a separate degree — it is a block of elective courses inside the same programme, usually chosen after the first two or three semesters once you have done the core management, marketing, finance and accounting subjects. The degree certificate is a BBA; the specialisation shapes the electives and, at some universities, a final-year project.
| University | Specialisation tracks |
|---|---|
| DPU Online BBA | 9 specialisations: Marketing, Finance, Human Resource, IT & Systems, International Business, Retail, E-Commerce, BFSI (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance) and Shipping & Logistics — chosen after the core semesters. |
| NMIMS Online BBA | 3 elective tracks — Marketing, Finance, or Business Analytics — taken from the second year. |
| Manipal Online BBA | 7 elective tracks — Marketing, Finance & Accounting, Human Resource Management, Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, Retail & E-Commerce, and Entrepreneurship Management & Family Business. |
| Amity Online BBA | Specialisations in Data Analytics (offered with HCLTech) and Travel & Tourism Management, alongside a general BBA. |
University by university
What the common areas cover
Marketing, Finance and Human Resources are offered by every university that names a track list. Data & Business Analytics is offered by NMIMS, Manipal and Amity. Retail & E-Commerce is offered by DPU and Manipal. DPU adds the widest set — including IT & Systems, International Business, BFSI (Banking, Financial Services & Insurance) and Shipping & Logistics — while Amity names Data Analytics (with HCLTech) and Travel & Tourism Management.
When you choose
At NMIMS the electives run from the second year (Semesters 4 to 6); at DPU and Manipal you pick after the core semesters. Check with the university whether you can change track later — most treat the choice as fixed once electives begin.
How to think about this
Choose the track for the kind of work you want to do, not the one with the most courses. If you are unsure, a general BBA keeps your options open, and Marketing or Finance are the broadest starting points. SkillBridge does not rank the specialisations — the right one depends on your career direction, which a counsellor can talk through.
Common questions
Which online BBA has the most specialisations?
DPU-COL names 9 specialisation tracks, the most of the four universities on SkillBridge. Manipal University Jaipur names 7, NMIMS 3, and Amity names 2 alongside a general BBA. More tracks is not automatically better — what matters is whether the specific area you want is offered and how it is taught.
Can I change my BBA specialisation later?
Most universities treat the specialisation choice as fixed once elective courses begin, typically from the second or third semester. If keeping your options open matters, a general BBA or a broad track like Marketing or Finance is the safer choice. Confirm the specific university's policy with a counsellor.
Do all four universities offer a Finance specialisation?
Every university on SkillBridge that publishes a track list — DPU, NMIMS and Manipal — offers a Finance track (Manipal names it "Finance & Accounting"). Amity names Data Analytics and Travel & Tourism as its key specialisations; whether a Finance track is available there is a question for a counsellor.
